E - Drug Purchasing and Inventory Control
نویسنده
چکیده
Total spending on drugs in Canada was forecasted, by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), to have reached $26.9 billion in 2007, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year 1 . Drug expenses were forecasted to represent 16.8% of total healthcare spending in 2007. Drug expenditure growth was lower in 2007 than the 11% increase reported in 2005 and the 9.1% increase in 2003. CIHI has identified a wide range of factors contributing to drug expenditure increases, including:

Periodic review inventory control with fluctuating purchasing costs
We consider the periodic review inventory control problem in which the purchasing cost of the product changes, in a Markovian fashion, from one period to the next. After establishing (with and without the non-speculation assumption) that an order upto policy is optimal, we develop an efficient recursive solution procedure to compute the optimal levels. In addition, we propose a measure for the ...

The purchasing policy of spare parts for maintenance and the reverse inventory chain logistics has been attracting researcher’s attention in recent years. In spare parts (SP) inventory control the aim is to maintain the inventory at an optimal level and to minimize the purchasing and the inventory costs. This paper deals with integration of the recycled spare parts in the economic models of inv...
متن کاملDemand Management and Inventory Control for Substitutable Products
This paper studies dynamic inventory and pricing decisions for a set of substitutable products over a finite planning horizon. We present a general stochastic, price-dependent demand model that unifies many commonly used demand models in the literature. Unsatisfied demands are backlogged. There are linear purchasing, inventory-holding, and backordering costs. The objective is to maximize the to...
متن کاملAn Intelligent Approach for Managing Materials Purchasing in the Rmc Industry
A model for comparing the inventory costs of purchasing under the economic order quantity (EOQ) system and the just-intime (JIT) order purchasing system in existing literature concluded that JIT purchasing was virtually always the preferable inventory ordering system especially at high level of annual demand. By expanding the classical EOQ model, this paper shows that it is possible for the EOQ...

Maintenance operations directly influence the performances of railway vehicles and play a crucial role in railway services to provide uninterrupted and high quality service to passengers. With the exception of preventive activities, the demand of spare parts for maintenance tasks is usually random; hence, the fast and secure management of the spare parts inventory is an important factor for the...
